By the time you get to read this newsletter, our school
will have completed all of our state testing for this
school year. It has been a long three weeks of testing
that began March 9th with our 1st and 2nd graders taking
the Stanford 10 (S-10), and concluded March 26th with
our 3rd - 8th graders completing the Maryland School
Assessment (MSA). I would like to take this opportunity
to highlight the tremendous effort that was put forth by
all of our students each and every day of testing. In
addition, I must acknowledge the commitment of our
teachers to not only prepare our students to
successfully perform on state testing, but also to
ensure that our students are receiving a quality
education. Our motto has been to “Inspire Excellence in
Education through Hard Work, Dedication and
Perseverance” and I think our teachers did exactly that
this year. We have appreciated all of the support we
have received from our community throughout the past two
years here at “The” Morrell Park and with everyone
working together, I am sure that we will be able to meet
our goal of having the Maryland State Department of
Education remove “The” Morrell Park from the state watch
list.
Reminders:
The school day begins at 7:45am.
Students who wish to eat breakfast should arrive to
school at 7:15am and enter the school through the
cafeteria doors. Too many of our students are
arriving to school at approximately 7:00am and we do
not have staff members on duty until 7:15am. After
spring break, we will not let students into school
until the appropriate time except if we have
inclement weather. (This reminder was also posted in
the March issue of The Morrell Park Elementary
Middle School Times)
Look for information about our
upcoming Spring Budget Session. BCPSS will be
releasing school budgets for the upcoming school
year very soon and I plan on holding a community
forum so parents can understand where we stand as
far with our budget and any possibilities for the
next school year.
Spring Carnival – We will host
our first annual Spring Carnival in the gymnasium
April 1st from 3:00pm – 5:00pm.
